A. Coleman Greenhaw's fascination with the musical world began at an early age after winning his first record player during a school carnival. He spent hours dancing to his mother's 7" single of the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams" and was later absorbed by the music of Roger Waters and Jim Morrison. It was in these first moments of intrigue, when a child pieces together a self recognition through sound and the physical reaction that follows, that Coleman began to understand the fundamental elements of rhythm and dance. This connection reverberated into curiosity and Coleman developed an enduring desire to be inspired by sound. His mother's efforts to throw some of the first local raves in the early nineties initially turned Coleman off to electronic/dance music but would ultimately set the stage for his musical ambitions. Like most teenagers, he wanted nothing to do with the activities his parents might be involved in. As he came of age, however, he and his friends began to experiment more with dance and they soon discovered rave on their own.
After beginning to dj in 1996, Coleman became known as 'The Goat' for founding Digital Perceptions and hosting his own Techno Pagan Rituals. At these events he began to understand the important relationship between the listener and the performer and how they interact with one another. Given this platform for expression, he developed his dj skills in a rare live setting and slowly figured out how to expand the boundaries of his music and the crowd's expectations. Over the years he has continued to aggrandize his performances and never fails to challenge the crowd both mentally and physically.
Inspired by the conception of his first son, Coleman developed the moniker 'ACG3'. As 'ACG3' he proved capable of incorporating elements into his performances that wouldn't have been associated with his earlier work. A more nourished performer had emerged, which allowed him to show a wider range of emotions and ultimately bring his listeners deeper into his psyche. Although 'The Goat' and 'ACG3' are synonymous with one another, having both aliases gives him the opportunity to show his unyielding character along side his abysmal introspection.
Upon the birth of his son, Coleman also released 'Natural Born' under 'ACG3' aka 'The GOAT' where he demonstrates his newly acquired diversity. 'Natural Born' sold out of its first pressing and Coleman secured his position as a leading underground techno figure. Shortly after the underground success of 'Natural Born' Coleman was living in France when he received news that his father had committed suicide after a long battle with mental illness. Initially numb to the idea that his father had passed, he moved back to the Midwest and consumed himself with work to avoid the reality that was about to set in. After producing a couple of unsuccessful events, he took a much needed break from performing and his entrepreneurial endeavors to collect his thoughts.
Almost one year would pass before 'The Goat' organized the acg3.com launch party WOKE, which proved to be unsuccessful by headcount but ultimately reignited Coleman's purpose. With a new game plan to push techno he began to produce shows featuring guests that caught most of his followers off guard. This venturous move ultimately showed his versatility and gave birth to a new platform where he continues to educate a new generation of listeners on the sounds of techno.
